Teaching Style: I am a passionate and caring teacher who uses a student-centred learning approach: I give guidance and teach according to the specific needs of each student. I love helping students achieve their goals and reach their fullest potential! Experience: I have over 6 years of teaching experience, 5 years of education, and 5 years of experience as a professional artist. I have taught all ages from kids to adults and at all levels. I have the following degrees: Honours Bachelor of Fine Art, the University of Toronto Honours Bachelor of Education, the University of Ottawa Diploma of Fine Art, Sheridan College Artist Bio: Emily Read was born in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Emily’s work strikes a balance between realism and abstraction. Recurring themes in her art include natures’ fragility and power. This artist has exhibited her work in solo and group shows throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Emily has received many awards in International Juried Art Competitions for her watercolour series. Recently, her painting 'Night Sun' was chosen for the 2nd Place National Prize from almost 1,500 entries by the Canadian Watercolour Society. Emily has had her work shown at the Louvre and projected on a building in Times Square. Most notably, her work can be seen on the covers of the Ottawa Arts Review 7.1 and Imminent Quarterly III. She currently lives in Montreal, Canada and continues to exhibit and sell her work regularly. Her current watercolour series focuses on positive stories of humans saving endangered animals.
