I am a visual artist and community educator and have been engaged in an art practice for more than thirty years. This practice has been both informed and interrupted my formal studies. These formal studies include a Certificate in Photography from the Halifax Regional Vocational School (NSCC), BFA from NSCAD, B.Ed – Visual Arts Specialist degree from NSCAD / MSVU and an M.Ed in Adult Education from MSVU. I work primarily in the medium of photography, but also utilize printmaking and drawing in my practice. My photography and photo-based works have been exhibited locally, regionally and nationally. My sketchbook submission, Fear of Creativity was recently included in the 2017 Brooklyn Art Library / Sketchbook Project book Hope Fear.
Because I have taught art programs for children, youth, adults and seniors my teaching methods range from guided activities / explorations to self directed learning. I have also taught programs for person with disabilities and have developed a number of accommodation strategies for learners with challenges.
